Just gimme a bat and a sketchpad!

This week my friend Stephen from Dallas (Hey Stephen!) was in town and invited me to the Yankee's game! 1st...I've never been to a Yankee's game...2nd...I had never been to The Bronx! So I knocked out 2 birds with 1 stone. I had a blast! And even tried to act like I knew what was going on! Lol. Live sporting events are so much fun bc you find yourself really getting into it, even if you weren't a huge fan before. Playing the fan games...singing the songs...and eating stadium food...fun times! Here's a few pics:

On crowded train on the way to the game...Stephen thought this pic was hilarious. Lol.

Yay! We made it!

Another fun thing from this week....
For the past few months I was involved with a project between the jewelry design students at FIT and the Palladium association (Palladium is Platinum's little cousin). We were challenged to create a design using palladium using inspiration received from fashion bloggers also involved in the project. It was such an amazing real life experience! And we were even given one of our finished pieces...which I'll be wearing everyday for awhile probably (Im just obsessive like that sometimes lol). Here's the pics:

My cuff and my ring from a previous project....

My school friends made some pieces that really rocked out too!

We are the future!

Even Vivienne Westwood did a Couture collection with the Palladium Association

Yummers

Sooo last Saturday, as Jamee and I were sitting around chatting on a cool rainy day we somehow got on the subject of wanting lemonpepper wings. Just to give you a little background, I didn't really become a big lemonpepper wing fan until I moved to Dallas and discovered a little place called WingStop! I love them so much that I made a point of going to WingStop the day before I officially moved...knowing that it would be a looong time before I had them again.

And considering the fact that we had no food in our place (and we still don't)...the urge to find lemonpepper wings became stronger! So we put out an APB for lemonpepper wings...tapping into our social networks, text harrassing friends, and of course google. Wings are not a big thing in NYC, so our NY friends had no clue where to find lemonpepper wings. But of course...google came to the rescue! As I typed in "lemonpepper wings NYC"...I found an article that mention WingStop. My first response? "NOOOOO! NOOOO! THERE ISN'T REALLY A WINGSTOP IN NYC! OMG!" I didn't believe it...so I went to WingStop's website...and then even called just to make sure it was real!

Our motivation for the long trip....we prob shoulda been trekking to the grocery store! lol

That's where our Saturday travel plans developed. We google mapped the location in Astoria (Queens)...and it said 1 hr and 4 minutes by public transportation!!! We even considered renting a ZipCar for a few hours...but after calculating that it would cost us about $100...our rational minds kicked back in. Lol. So we thought "are we really gonna travel over an hour just to get wings?!?"...."Ummmmm....YES!"

"So I guess we're really gonna do this?"

It felt like the longest ride known to man, but it was def worth it! We were so happy that we decided to do it once a month! LOL.

Yum!! We bought a ton of wings with the intent of taking some home for later!

ANOTHER CRAVING

So for Easter, we both stayed in NY instead to going home for family time. It was cool though bc we decided to get a little soul food as consolation. Our destination of choice was Amy Ruth's in Harlem! It was super yummy...way better than Sylvia's. I finally got the fried fish I had been craving!

Overall...it was a good weekend for yummy (fattening) food. Maybe this weekend I'll eat salads to balance it out. Lol

Summer--Oh Summer! Stop Avoiding me!

I haven't written anything in awhile because not much has been going on!! I've been eagerly awaiting the official start of Spring! You guys spent the whole winter reading my complaints about the snow...so I'm desperately in need of Spring to get here...bc that means Summer is just around the corner!! Since the weather has let up a little we've been getting out a little bit more....

Birthday celebrations

For my birthday I wanted my friends to dress up as their alter egos! My name was Bianca Lovelace and Jamee was Golden Banks! Pics below!

We also celebrated my friend Lenore's birthday! She's great and had a lot of amazing people at her brunch! Check out her website www.LenoreCoer.com (I just felt like giving her a random S/O) Hey Lenore!

Family dinners
We do these every month...pretty much! Fun times always!

Also, we went to a really cool event where Jesse Boykins performed (I heart him!)...sorry no pics! But it was fun. And as always we've been meeting more new people! Coming up in the next few weeks we have some fun stuff planned!

Friday we have the Disco Roller Derby...I know this is gonna be absolutely hilarious! Especially considering the fact that I am a HORRIBLE skater! Don't ask me why! All the things people learned how to do when they were little are not my thing...skating...swimming...hula hooping! Idk. I simply suck at them all. lol. I didn't really get decent at hula hooping until I was in college (so sad). So I should have crazy pics of us all dressed up in our Disco roller skating clothes!

Oh yeah...me and Jamee will also be starting a line of T's this summer. More details coming soon. LOL #M2bF <----Purposely vague statement lol

From Conceptualization to Actualization...

In my casting class, our 1st project was to design a ring. The process consisted of carving the design out of wax, sending it to a caster to be made in silver, and then finishing. I thought it would be fun to chronicle the process....

Rough sketches...I mean very rough! Lol.

Plain ol' wax....

Sized the block of wax....

Carved the design out of wax....

Top View....

The caster made a mold of the wax...I can use the mold to reproduce the design.

Pre-finishing...after coming from the caster...the silver is hidden beneath a layer of whiteness!

After a few dates with the emory paper...files...and tumbler, its finally finished (or as finished as its gonna get!) lol.

Shiny!

Can't wait to do more...and get better at it.

Toodles!

When the domestic life goes wrong....

So I should be really ashamed to put this info out into the world...but its so sad its funny! Me and Jamee both HATE going to to wash clothes! You guys know...because it always creeps into our blog posts! Sooooo...we accidentally waited 2 MONTHS to wash clothes *lowers head*. The lack of clean clothes looks like this....

Our 2 months of dirty clothes combined....disgraceful!

Because I had to clothes, I had to make up an outfit! Notice I'm wearing capri with tall knee socks and a cut up tee.

When the boots come off...you'll notice the red hosiery socks. Lol.

But when put together its not as bad! That's my rationalization. Lol.

We keep saying we'll never let it build up again...and maybe we won't this time...bc that was a treacherous chore! Who knows?!?

Feel free to ship us a free washer and dryer combo...or a gift card to a wash and fold service.

Thanks :)

What would you do for Eel?!?

Would you lie, cheat, and kill?
Would you text harass your friends for information?
Would you get on 3 forms of public transportation?
Would you commute for an hour?
When all else fails would you ask a random pedestrian to help you get to St. Marks street?
Would you punch a bum?
Would you wade through a crowd of hipsters and smoke?
Would you slap a rude waitress?
Would you wait an additional hour for your sushi?

We've all had that craving for something...and sometimes out of pure desperation you'll go through all types of recklessness just to get it!! That's how me and J felt about getting back to Sushi Lounge. After all the craziness (described above), we finally got our sushi!!! And it was YUMMY!

Before deciding on sushi, we reluctantly started at Friday's (don't judge us!)...after seeing it was $18 for a cheeseburger (pure recklessness) we decided to get something we actually wanted! Seriously...its only Fridays! So we lied to our waitress and told her we were leaving because our friends who were supposed to join weren't coming anymore! Lol. Yeah so we lied...oh well!

After not eating all day...we had to make a pit stop at Wendy's before our trek in search of Sushi Lounge! And yes...we both only ordered fries!! I know...very random.

An hour later we finally made it to SUSHI LOUNGE *insert cabbage patch dance*

The BBQ eel I had been dreaming about for months!! Trust me...its good!Tastes just like chicken! Jk.

Jamee decided to go for the Dancing Spicy Tuna. If you know me...you know I've never had tuna...EVER! I refuse to eat cat food....but I digress.

And clearly J didn't like all of it either. Haha! She scraped off the cat food...I mean raw tuna! *eeewwwww*

Next time we'll have to throw in a few sakitini's!!

February L-O-V-E!

Hey guys! Here is a wrap up of Feb's activities:

Yee-Haw!: So earlier this month I went to Tejas to visit with fam and friends. What I thought would be a break from Winter Wonder Land turned out to be just the opposite. The Weather was HORRIBLE! Picture flights being delayed, panic stricken Texans fearing snowmageddon and all sorts of other foolishness (yea I know Im talking like Im just a pro at this cold weather thing, but I honestly got a kick seeing the hysteria of how my fellow Texans dealt with the snow :) ). Aside from the weather, I had a ball!! I got to see my fav Aunt (Hey!! Sarah D) and Bestie, which could of very well been the highlight of my trip. A few words to describe Sascha and I when we get together is pure comedy and randomness that only the two of us probably appreciate. I also got to hang out with some other friends who showed me a gooood time (Hey Shelby, Marie, and Fallon!). To sum it all up my Texas trip was just the lil mini vaca I needed.

Family Dinner: So once a month (give or take), me and some of the girls get together to have great food, and chat about whatever comes to mind. This month’s  theme was Mexican food and Margaritas! *Insert maranga music here* Fun times are always had with this group of girls :)

Malcolm X Documentary: In honor of Black History Month we went to the Studio Museum in Harlem and watched a documentary on the one and only Mr. X. I can honestly say I walked away with a different insight to Malcolm X and learned some new things. The museum was nice and made me want to go visit others. (Hint, hint to future boo's)

Nkonye's Going Away Shin-dig: So our friend Nkonye is moving to China! Like Dani and I, Nkonye packed up and moved to NY from Dallas to pursue goals but now she’s off to other adventures and will be working in China! Congrats to her and I wish her all the best (told you I have some great and ambitious friends)

A few other random things took place but over all February was a good month. As of today the weather maybe looking up and hopefully Spring time is soon approaching!!

Enjoy some pics below:
